There are a lot of charities which help environment to funcionate properly. But this one is special because of her force and passion. The Donkey Sanctuary, located in Devon, looks after about 75% of the donkeys in Britain. We also send them £13m a year. That place supports the domestic donkeys, which bring water, firewood and the other stuff and working as a unit to maintain a family. But there is a problem with a lack of access to veterinary care, that causes many injuries and ilnesses of donkeys. The sanctuary's mission is to transform the quality of life for donkeys, mules through understanding and support. It all started in 1969 by the devoted doctor - Elisabeth Svendsen. She had made that the sanctuary increased to the international charity. She helped many children by riding therapy as well as millions of donkeys. A one of the world's largest collections of witchcraft items is located in Boscastle village in Cornwall. That's called The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic. That small destination was created in 1960 by Cecil Williamson, who has been interested in occult since childhood. Finally, the museum was taken over by new members, who renamed it from The Museum of Witchcraft to today's title. It is a source of inspiration for people from all over the world,. You can discover there times from the ancient history to the present days. Inside there are few exhibits: “Images of Witchcraft,” “Devil Worship and Satanism,” “The Hare and Shape Shifting,” and an exhibition on the “Persecution of Witches.” The museum also welcomes group visits f.e from people at schools.
Today I will write about quite strange and terrifying gardens located in Alnwick, in England. They are named Alnwick Poison Gardens and were created by an English duchess. They're also inspired by the legendary botanical gardens in Padua. Have you ever imagine that plants could make you fall fainted or ill? That's the true when you wouldn't obey the rules in those gardens. When you are coming into the main gate there is a marked warning 'These plants can kill'. Despite that caution, some tourists are flouting that rule and they are touching or smelling the plants, but that is forbidden there. The garden is in the grounds surrounding Alnwick Castle. That's arguably northern England’s darkest tourist attraction. Visitors can see there more than 100 different species of intoxicating plants, for example the deadly nighshade and the hemlock (which killed the philosopher Socrates). Some of them have got their own legendry and history and some are permamently kept in cages. The whole garden is secured by a special guard.
My first thematic post will be about the magical place located in London - Richmond Park. That's the largest of London's Royal Parks. You can admire there a natural world filled with peaceful and beauty. It's a very quiet area and also a home for thousands of wildlife animals, mainly deer, but it supports a range of rare species including birds, insects, fugi, bats, grasses and wildflowers. In the park there are also around 1,400 ancient trees, mostly oaks. For the animals the trees are a source of food. The bats appear there during the night, because most of them required a darkness and a quiet. In the park one of the most important thing is water. Without her life could not exist. In autumn male deer come together for the annual rut. When many people try to photograph and watch the rut, it disturbs the deer. Sometimes they could attack them. Richmond Park is receiving some 5,500,000 visitors a year. Everyone who visits the park can also take care of it and protect the environment through obeying the law.
Hello. I'm Paulina and I'm 16 years old. This is my school blog, where I'm going to write about unusual and interesting places located in the United Kingdom. Maybe that's quite an ordinary topic, but there are lots of places, that we don't know about, which are very attractive. I would like to prove that and I hope you like it.
